About Sanford Michelman

Sanford Michelman, Chairman and Co-Founder of Michelman & Robinson, LLP (M&R), possesses more than 20 years of experience in complex commercial litigation. Sanford Michelman has defended numerous, high-stakes class-action lawsuits and has represented companies from a variety of industries in regulatory enforcement actions. His clients include individuals and companies in the financial services, insurance, and advertising and digital media industries.

In 1999, he co-founded Michelman & Robinson, a multi-practice law firm with offices in California, Chicago, and New York. Based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, Sanford Michelman handles a broad range of litigation matters for clients, as well as large transactions and regulatory matters. Most recently, he began representing musician and songwriter, David Lowery, in a class-action copyright infringement lawsuit against Spotify.

Beyond his considerable leadership responsibilities within the firm, Sanford Michelman is a steadfast contributor to the Los Angeles community. He sits on the board of directors for the Zimmer Children’s Museum and received commendation from the California State Bar for his pro bono work at Bet Tzedek.

In 2001, the Governor of California appointed Mr. Michelman to the State Athletic Commission of which he was elected Vice-Chairman in 2002 and Chairman in 2004.
